Michael Gibbon KC is the head of a set of barristers’ chambers in Lincoln’s Inn. He divides his time between central London and north Ceredigion. Much of his work at the Bar has involved representing government departments. His parents were from Glamorgan, and he also has family connections with West Wales and Mid Wales. He studied Modern History for his first degree at Magdalen College Oxford, and then took an MPhil in International Relations at King’s College Cambridge. He was also a choral scholar at both colleges, and has a continuing interest in music, particularly singing. After a short period in finance, he trained as a barrister. He started practice in 1995 and took silk in 2011. He was elected a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2019. In his spare time he is interested in the late mediaeval and early modern history of Mid Wales, about which he has published various articles. He is a former President of the Montgomeryshire Society.

He and his wife Amanda have four children.  Amanda shares responsibility for running her family’s farm just south of Machynlleth.
