WELSH SAINTS IN STAINED GLASS BY CELTIC STUDIOS

Celtic Studios, operating from its establishment in 1948 until its closure in the 1990s, was the most prolific stained glass studio in Wales. After briefly introducing the historical background to the studio and the use of stained glass windows in Welsh churches in the post-war period, this article will consider a range of windows made by Celtic Studios that feature Welsh saints. The particular saints chosen for individual commissions are discussed, as well as the changing representations of the saints in the 1950s and 60s.
