Wales in the Media

March 17, 6:30 am - 8:00 pm

The next talk in the Wales Matters series looking at contemporary issues of importance to Wales will focus on the information the Welsh public obtains through the news media available to it.

Ifan Morgan Jones
Head of Digital Media, S4C

Monday 17th March, 6.30 for 7pm
London Welsh Centre, 157 Gray’s Inn Road, London WC1X 8UE

Social media has cut a swathe through previous methods of news dissemination to the detriment of traditional news sources. How much has been lost with the decline of the printed media and of traditional broadcasting and how well is the Welsh public being served by online providers at a time when there are many issues crucial to the future of Wales as a society to be discussed?

In a globalised world dominated by large corporations is there still room and indeed an appetite for a Welsh voice and if not, what threat does this pose to participative democracy in small territories such as Wales?

These and other issues will be discussed by our speaker Ifan Morgan Jones, founder of Nation.Cymru and now Head of Digital Media at S4C. If you believe this is one of the key issues facing modern Wales, do come along to hear the talk and join the debate.
All are welcome.  Admission is free but please book here.

Wales Matters is a joint initiative of the Cymmrodorion, the London Welsh Centre and Wales in London. Previous talks have focused on Wales’s Competitiveness, Education, the Crisis in the Arts, and Devolution.
