THE LEGACY OF THE PEACE MOVEMENT IN WALES 1914-1918

January 26, 2021, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

All are welcome to join this talk, which will be live and with questions. Access will be via this page; no registration is needed.

This talk analyses the impact of the Opposition to the Great War in Wales, and how it influenced attitudes through the twenties and thirties through to the Second World War.

What happened to those conscientious objectors and others who resisted the war effort and whose principles were challenged by the economic ruin of the twenties and rise of fascism in the 1930s? This lecture will consider the fate of the out and out pacifists as well as those who had pledged that there would be no more war.

Dr Aled Eirug, retired senior lecturer, Swansea University.

Chaired by Professor Stuart Cole CBE.
